As a successful owner manager or a manager within a corporate environment the challenges faced when looking to make an acquisition are great. You are required to:

• Identify the appropriate target business;
• Make successful approaches (sometimes anonymously);
• Analyse the synergies between each target and your own business (most usefully in a financial model);
• Value the business to see, 1) what it is worth in the market and 2) what it is worth to you;
• Negotiate the deal;
• Manage the due diligence process.

At PCF we are able to take most of the work “off your plate” and run it on your behalf. We use the same skills as when selling a business to identify all relevant targets and rank them according to your acquisition criteria. This can involve up to 3 months work in analysing the sector or even numerous sectors. We are then able to manage the approaches on your behalf (therefore keeping it anonymous for as long as possible) and present you with the pertinent information to make a decision on whether to proceed. In short we can provide the service of a fully outsourced M&A department in terms of analysis and administration of the deals. We can also manage deals if you have been approached with a possible acquisition and just wish to pursue that opportunity on a 'penalty box' basis.
